Brentford head coach Thomas Frank offers a prediction over Bryan Mbeumo's future following Saturday's 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank has predicted that Bryan Mbeumo will play for a 'big club' in the future.

Mbeumo continued his impressive start to the season with a record-breaking goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with West Ham United.

The forward scored in the opening 60 seconds against the Hammers to help Brentford become the first team to score inside the first minute of three consecutive Premier League matches.

As a result of his strike against the Hammers, Mbeumo has now scored five goals in Brentford's opening six top-flight matches, leaving him in joint-third place in the Premier League scoring charts.

Prior to the West Ham clash, the Cameroon international scored in the league opener against Crystal Palace, netted a brace against Southampton and scored inside the opening 60 seconds in last weekend's away meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Speaking after Saturday's draw, Frank offered a prediction when questioned about how Brentford managed to keep Mbeumo during the recent summer transfer window.

Frank told reporters: "[He has] added another layer this year - five goals in six games - plus he's still created chances, opportunities and he's working so hard for the team.

"For me, he's a top player. I am convinced one day he will play for a bigger club. I'd buy him if I was a bigger club.

"He's very happy here. Some maybe need to leave us some day, but a lot are very happy because we have a top, top environment. We're good people, staff, players and we push each other.

"What I've learned in football, for any player, in a way the sky's the limit. It's always up to the player first but it's up to us to maximise the potential. My biggest task in the club is to maximise potential and who knows I think Bryan has got a fantastic package."

Could a future big move be on the cards?

Since the start of last season, Mbeumo has scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 31 Premier League appearances.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Mbeumo's consistent performances had caught the attention of the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

While Brentford will be keen to retain his services, any potential interest in him will only grow stronger if he continues to perform at a high level.

The 25-year-old is currently under contract until the summer of 2026, with Brentford holding the option to extend by a further year.

Mbeumo will look to continue his fine form and score in a third consecutive game when the Bees face Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend.
