Arsenal eye up Mats Hummels, Ilkay Gundogan swoop?

Fresh reports emerge linking Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan with moves to Arsenal this January, as the Gunners prepare an audacious double swoop.

Arsenal are reportedly lining up a double swoop for Borussia Dortmund pair Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan.

The Gunners were hit by the news earlier today that Mikel Arteta is to spend another three months on the sidelines through injury, which could force manager Arsene Wenger into the market.

According to the Daily Star, Gundogan is seen by the Frenchman as being the ideal player to help shore up the middle of the park, with a bid of £20m expected to be made this January.

Despite playing down talk linking him with a move away from the Westfalenstadion, the same publication claims that Hummels could also be part of Arsenal's audacious raid.

The German international has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Premier League over the past 12 months, and it is thought that North London would be his preferred destination.
