Jack Wilshere: 'I want to stay at Arsenal'

Midfielder Jack Wilshere says that he "loves" playing for Arsenal and is keen to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has revealed that he wants to remain at the Emirates Stadium past the end of the current season.

Wilshere has less than 12 months remaining on his existing deal with the Gunners, and his lack of first-team action for the North Londoners leaves open the possibility of a free transfer at the end of the season.

However, Wilshere starred for Arsenal in their Europa League triumph over BATE Borisov on Thursday night - taking his number of outings this campaign to three - and the England international has reiterated his desire to remain at the club.

The 25-year-old told the London Evening Standard: "You are always playing for your future but I am happy to be back, to feel part of the squad. I am fit and healthy and getting back to my best and when the time comes to sit down and talk or not we will see.

"Do I see myself staying? Of course I do. I love this club. They have been good to me over the years, I have a great relationship with the boss.

"[Arsene Wenger] has played me since I was 17. He has put his trust in me since then. We have a great understanding and of course I want to stay."

Wilshere will hope to make his first top-flight appearance of the season when Arsenal host Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
