Leonardo Jardim: 'AS Monaco should be proud'

Leonardo Jardim says that his Monaco charges can be proud of their Champions League campaign following their quarter-final exit by Juventus.

AS Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim has said that his troops should be proud of their Champions League campaign after it came to an end last night.

The French outfit were eliminated from the quarter-finals after struggling to break down a gritty Juventus side over two legs, culminating in a 1-0 aggregate defeat.

However, Jardim, whose side eliminated Arsenal from the round of 16, says that the Ligue 1 team represented the country well on their European adventures.

"I am disappointed with the result but proud of our two matches. We have shown we can produce good football in Europe," he told reporters.

"After this great campaign, we represented France and Monaco well. We must now refocus on our goals in the league."

Monaco may miss the competition next season as they boast just a two-point cushion over fourth-placed Marseille in the race for Champions League qualification.
