Christian Benteke praises Tim Sherwood for Aston Villa resurgence

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke praises the impact that Tim Sherwood has had on his side following their 4-0 hammering of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke has credited his side's resurgence in form to the "freedom" that new boss Tim Sherwood has allowed his players.

Villa moved six points clear of the relegation zone courtesy of a crushing 4-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light as Gabriel Agbonlahor and Benteke each netted twice.

The Belgian told BBC Sport: "I think we are playing with more freedom since the manager took over. Not just me, the manager is giving us a lot of responsibility and freedom."

Sherwood's men moved to 16th in the Premier League table following their win over the Black Cats.
