Paul Lambert: 'Pressure is on Newcastle United'

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert believes that all the expectations are on Newcastle United in their Premier League clash on Sunday at St James' Park.

Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert believes that all the pressure is on Newcastle United in their Premier League clash on Sunday.

The Villans are currently embroiled in the relegation scrap, but despite their problems, Lambert insists that the Magpies' current form puts the onus on them rather than on his side.

He told Sky Sports News: "I think the expectation levels will be on Newcastle with the crowd and the club that it is.

"They've been beaten pretty heavily in their last few home games which isn't like them, because they've been pretty consistent.

"Alan's done a great job there and it'll be a tough game. But we also know that if you can get on the front foot the crowd might become edgy."

Villa are 12th in the Premier League.
