Report: Cristian Rodriguez close to Independiete move

A report claims that Uruguay international Cristian Rodriguez is close to joining Independiete on a permanent deal.

Atletico Madrid attacker Cristian Rodriguez is reportedly closing on a permanent transfer to Independiete.

The 29-year-old has been with Atletico since 2012, but has largely struggled to secure a regular spot in the Spanish side's first XI.

The Uruguay international has recently had loan spells with both Parma and Gremio, and according to AS, is now close to leaving on a permanent basis.

The same report has claimed that Atletico and Independiete have agreed a deal in the region of £700,000 for the experienced attacker.

Rodriguez represented his country at the Copa America this summer.
