A hamstring injury may rule Xavi out of Barcelona's last 16 meeting with AC Milan in the Champions League.

Barcelona may have to make do without the services of Xavi during their upcoming Champions League tie against AC Milan.

The Spanish midfielder suffered a hamstring injury during last night's 1-1 draw away at Valencia.

The complaint has ruled the 33-year-old out of Spain's friendly encounter against Uruguay on Wednesday evening.

Since that news broke, the club have confirmed on their official website that he has sustained a "slight tear" to the muscle, which could see him spend the next fortnight on the sidelines.

That has thrown his participation at the San Siro into doubt, with Barca due to make the trip on Wednesday, February 20.
