Franz Beckenbauer has said that Bayern Munich could have conceded more goals to FC Basel after their 1-0 defeat in the Champions League.
Substitute Valentin Stocker scored for the Swiss outfit with less than five minutes to go, handing Basel the advantage ahead of the return leg at the Allianz Arena in three weeks' time. However, Beckenbauer admits that it could have been worse.
"The situation has become worse, but it is not dramatic," he said. "If [Manuel] Neuer was not there, Basel could have scored two more.
"Basel are good on the road. If they score in the second leg, then [Bayern] need to score three times. I think it is possible that Basel score in Munich."
The German outfit have now failed to score in back-to-back games, after a goalless draw at Freiburg last weekend.
