Birmingham City have revealed that striker Isaac Vassell has undergone successful surgery on a serious knee injury.
Last month, Vassell was substituted during the first half of the derby clash with Aston Villa, and there were immediate fears that the summer signing could face a prolonged period on the sidelines.
The Championship side soon confirmed that the 24-year-old would require an operation on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, which was carried out earlier this week.
Birmingham have said that the surgery went as planned, but Vassell will still likely miss the remainder of the campaign and work towards returning for pre-season in July.
Since joining from Luton Town in August, Vassell has netted once in 10 appearances for Birmingham in all competitions.
