Lee Clark insists that Birmingham City are fighting to remain in the Championship and not looking for a playoff spot.

Birmingham City manager Lee Clark has refused to get carried away with his side's 4-0 away win against Crystal Palace in the Championship on Friday.

Clark insists that his objective this season is to keep the Blues in the English second tier and that he is not eyeing a late surge for a playoff spot.

"We are just looking at the clubs directly above us to try and peg them back," Sky Sports News quotes Clark as saying.

"We are also not being arrogant or ignorant and thinking we are out of what is going on behind us as well. I am thinking those teams behind us will carry on their good form tomorrow and I am still in thought process that it might be a record number of points needed to keep you in the division.

"We're well aware of everything around us in the division and I know it is a cliché but it is important we take it one game at a time."

The win leaves City in 10th place in the table with 52 points from 39 matches, seven points off the final playoff spot.
