Blackburn boss Steve Kean has said that it is time for El-Hadji Diouf to leave Ewood Park.
The former Liverpool forward spent much of last season on loan at Scottish side Rangers and no longer features in the Rovers' plans, according to the manager, who admitted that he wants to take the team in a new direction.
"He [Diouf] won't be involved in our squad," Kean told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"He turns up now and again. We are trying to go in a different direction with the players we are trying to bring to the club.
"I said that to Dioufy when I eventually caught up with him, which was a few days later than I thought. I have no problem with him but I said I think it is time for him to move on and he accepted that."
Diouf joined Blackburn from Sunderland during the 2008/09 season and went on to make 60 appearances for the club.
