Blackpool and Barnsley shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road on Monday.
It was the away side who started the better and Michael Tonge so nearly opened the scoring after four minutes, but Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks pushed the ball to safety.
Blackpool improved as the half developed, however, and Matt Phillips fired an effort just over the bar after 11 minutes.
Blackpool's afternoon took a turn for the worse, however, after 21 minutes when Keith Southern was dismissed for a foul on Stephen Foster.
Thomas Ince twice came close to handing the home side the lead before the 30 minute mark, but he fired wide from close range.
Phillips might have given the home side the lead just before the break, but he was denied by a smart save from David Button.
Barnsley took the lead moments into the second period, however, when David Perkins converted from close range with their first chance of the half.
Ince remained the home side's biggest threat and he might have levelled just past the 60 minute mark, but he was denied.
Phillips did secure an equaliser for Blackpool, however, after 71 minutes when he turned in from close range.
Jimmy McNulty might have won it for Barnsley late on, but he fired wide with 10 minutes remaining.
