Borussia Dortmund have made a £38m bid for Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca according to a report, with the Italian being viewed as a potential replacement for Erling Braut Haaland.
With the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United and Manchester City all eyeing up a move for Haaland when his release clause becomes active in the summer, BVB are looking to stay one step ahead by moving quickly to secure the signature of someone to fill the expected void left behind.
A £38m bid has now been made for the 23-year-old forward Scamacca, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, who has scored nine goals in 22 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo so far this season.
The German side will look to complete the deal this January, but Scamacca would return to Sassuolo for the remainder of the 2021-22 season, before moving to the Bundesliga in the summer.
After coming through the ranks at I Neroverdi, the Italian international has spent numerous loan spells away from the club, including temporary moves to Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa, before breaking into the first team at the beginning of the current campaign.
Following his impressive performances this season, Scamacca was called up to the senior Italy squad and made his debut in September of last year.
