Half-Time Report: Andreas Christensen own goal brings Schalke level

Andreas Christensen puts through his own net as Schalke 04 go in at half time level with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Andreas Christensen's own goal has seen Schalke 04 get back on level terms before half time against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The hosts almost took an early lead at Borussia Park when Fabian Johnson's cross found Julian Korb, whose shot was saved in the top corner by Ralf Fahrmann.

Franco Di Santo and Junior Caicara then missed opportunities in quick succession for the Royal Blues, who are looking to close the gap on Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.

Johnson was involved again for Borussia when he fired another effort wide as neither side could break the deadlock in the opening half hour.

However, Monchengladbach were then awarded a penalty after Dennis Aogo brought down Korb in the area.

Lars Stindl saw his spot kick saved by Fahrmann, but he was alive to loose ball and tucked away the rebound.

Schalke managed to hit back before half time, however, as Christensen inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net.
