Catania, Livorno share six-goal thriller

Catania share a 3-3 draw with Livorno in their Serie A meeting at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

Sergio Almiron scored a late goal to earn Catania a 3-3 draw with Livorno in their Serie A match at the Stadio Angelo Massimino.

After a goalless first half, the visitors took the lead when Emerson saw his long-range effort parried by Alberto Frison, and Innocent Emeghara followed up to slot the ball into the net.

Gonzalo Bergessio brought the home side level when he saw his initial strike saved by Francesco Bardi, but bundled in the rebound.

Livorno regained the lead when Paulinho scored from the penalty spot, but within minutes the hosts equalised again, as Pablo Barrientos slotted home a low effort following a corner kick.

The visitors grabbed their third goal of the game soon after. Alfred Duncan saw his stinging shot fumbled by Frison, but Emeghara reacted quickly to place the loose ball into the unguarded net.

With two minutes of the match left to play, Catania came from behind for the third time. A deep cross from the right wing was missed by everyone, but fell kindly to Almiron at the back post, and the midfielder made no mistake in drilling a low strike past Bardi and earn his side a point.
