Half-Time Report: Cesena in control against Empoli

Goals from Guido Marilungo and Gregoire Defrel give Cesena a 2-0 lead over Empoli at the halfway stage of their Serie A match this evening.

Cesena are on course to win their second match in Serie A this season after taking a 2-0 half-time lead over Empoli this evening.

Daniele Rugani almost opened the scoring for the visitors inside the opening four minutes, but his header was kept out by goalkeeper Nicola Leali.

On the half-hour mark, it was Cesena who took the lead as Guido Marilungo headed in from close range after his initial effort had come back off the bar.

They scored a second just two minutes later when Gregoire Defrel found himself some space outside the box, before driving an effort into the bottom corner.

Rugani almost pulled a goal back for Empoli on the stroke of half time, but, after latching onto Manuel Pucciarelli's pass, he fired a strike wide of the post.
