Guy Luzon: 'Depressing performances not good enough'

Charlton Athletic boss Guy Luzon claims that his side should not be involved in a "relegation war", with performances so far leaving him feeling saddened.

Guy Luzon has admitted that Charlton Athletic's slow start to the season has left him feeling "depressed and upset".

The Addicks have taken 10 points from their first 12 games to find themselves inside the bottom three.

Having seen his side go eight Championship games without a win, Luzon concedes that the performances so far have simply not been good enough.

"We are not a team that need to be a part of the relegation war," BBC Sport quotes the Israeli as saying. "We are more than this. I have a lot of experience in this kind of situation. In my career I have passed these obstacles.

"All of us worry. We are aware of it and are not satisfied. We are depressed and upset like the fans and everyone around the club. When you have 46 games you sometimes have bad periods. You have to be strong enough to pass them.

"The board and the president support the team, the squad and the people around the club. I am not a one-man show. We will do it."

Next up for Charlton is the visit of London rivals Brentford on Saturday afternoon.
