Vincent Kompany lauds "big win"

Vincent Kompany is pleased that Manchester City reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a win over Chelsea.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has revealed his delight with his side's "big" 2-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.

Kompany said that the FA Cup is important for City and was particularly pleased to have responded to the defeat against Chelsea in the Premier League less than two weeks ago.

"It's a big victory against a strong team," Kompany told ITV Sport. "We love this competition and it was a great game for the competition.

"We are really happy with the result. Twelve days ago we had a bad game and we gave them too many chances, today we adapted and it was comfortable.

"The dressing room wanted revenge today, from the word go we were hard in the challenges, created a lot of chances and didn't give many chances away."

The result moved City into the quarter-finals of the competition.
