Cesar Azpilicueta: 'I'm confident of keeping first-team spot'

Cesar Azpilicueta says that he is confident of keeping his place in the Chelsea starting lineup despite the club signing Abdul Rahman Baba.

Cesar Azpilicueta has said that he is confident of keeping his place as Chelsea's first-choice left-back.

The club signed Abdul Rahman Baba earlier this month but Azpilicueta has started all of their Premier League matches so far.

"We know in football you can't rely on what you did in the past, you have to prove yourself every day," Azpilicueta told reporters.

"We won the league last season, but we have to show in every game and every day in training that we are ready to perform in every game.

"I'm confident that I will keep working and doing my job. I know that the competition is good for the team."

The 25-year-old scored his first goal for the Blues in their 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion last weekend.
