David Beckham hoping for swift Jose Mourinho return

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham hopes to see Jose Mourinho back managing in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

Former Manchester United and England midfielder David Beckham has expressed his desire to see Jose Mourinho return to the Premier League as soon as possible.

Mourinho's second stint as Chelsea boss came to an end on Thursday following a dismal campaign that had seen his side lose nine of their 16 league outings just seven months after coasting to the title.

However, Beckham insists that the Portuguese still deserves to be considered amongst the world's best and believes that the Premier League is a better place with him in it.

"Unfortunately this is how football is but there is no disputing Jose is one of the best managers in football," Beckham told Sky Sports News.

"He won the league last year and had virtually the same squad this year so it's obviously surprising to see their league position. But I love Jose. I think he is an incredible manager, a great person and he's passionate about the game.

"I hope he comes back to the Premier League quickly because the English public love him, the fans love seeing him on the sidelines, they love his character so it's a shame to see him leave but Chelsea are a great club. They'll move on quickly I'm sure. Roman is passionate about the team, so they'll move on pretty quickly I'm sure."

Mourinho has already been linked with a move to a number of Beckham's former clubs, including United, Paris Saint-Germain and a return to Real Madrid.
