Kevin de Bruyne: 'I don't know why Jose Mourinho sold me'

Kevin de Bruyne says that he still does not know why Jose Mourinho allowed him to leave Chelsea for Wolfsburg in January 2014.

Wolfsburg playmaker Kevin de Bruyne has admitted that he is still not sure why Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho sold him last year.

The Belgium international made just nine appearances for the Blues before joining the Bundesliga side in January 2014, with reports suggesting that Mourinho was unhappy with the midfielder's attitude.

De Bruyne says that the Portuguese coach never expressed that concern to him.

"I still don't understand why Jose Mourinho let me leave," the 25-year-old told Goal.com. "I never discussed it with him. I started to play and then it was finished.

"After four months, I asked him to leave. I didn't want to stay at a club where I wasn't even playing for 10 minutes. He said it was my attitude in training? It is an excuse he can use.

"But no-one can say that as they haven't seen me train. I don't think that in Belgium or in the Bundesliga they have complained about this. That is the way it is. I am not angry. When I was transferred to Wolfsburg, Chelsea got their money. Everyone was happy."

De Bruyne's form this season has seen him linked with a move back to the Premier League with Manchester City.
