Andre Villas-Boas reportedly had a secret meeting with Roma general manager Franco Baldini in February, with a view to taking over at the Italian club in the summer.
The Portuguese boss, who was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday, is being courted as the man to replace Luis Enrique at the end of the season, according to Goal.com.
The talks are understood to have taken place in a London restaurant, where Villas-Boas was asked if he would be interested in succeeding Enrique.
Villas-Boas was sacked just nine months into his Chelsea reign.
