Bristol City bring in youngster Jay DaSilva from Chelsea

Bristol City sign Jay DaSilva from Chelsea on loan until the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Bristol City have confirmed the arrival of young Chelsea full-back Jay DaSilva for the duration of the 2018-19 campaign.

The three-time FA Youth Cup winner, tipped for big success at Stamford Bridge, gained experience out on loan with Charlton Athletic last season.

DaSilva has now jumped from League One to the Championship by agreeing loan terms with Bristol City, becoming the Robins' eighth - and possibly final - recruit of the summer transfer window.

Bristol boss Lee Johnson told the club's official website: "I am very excited about what Jay will bring to the squad. He has already achieved a lot for such a young player and we believe in his ability to step up again in what is a tough and increasingly competitive league."

Derby County, now managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, and fellow second-tier side Aston Villa had also been touted as possible destinations for DaSilva.
