Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku has said that he knows he must be patient and wait for his chance, should he join the Blues this summer.
The 18-year-old has been a subject of interest at Stamford Bridge for over two years, with reports suggesting that new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is now close to signing the Belgian international.
"I am waiting very calmly for the phone call that will tell me everything has been agreed between the clubs," he told Het Laatse Nieuws.
"I wouldn't play immediately if I join a top European club but I will be in an environment that will make me stronger. I will need a period of adjustment, perhaps a season, before I can compete.
"Sturridge, Kalou and Anelka would be playing out on the flank, so you have two central strikers - Drogba and Torres - but usually only one will play."
Chelsea recently returned from their pre-season tour of the Far East, where Villas-Boas said he would evaluate his current squad before making new signings.
