Report: Chelsea in hunt to sign Raphael Varane

Fresh reports emerge linking £20m-rated Raphael Varane with a move to Chelsea, where he could join up with former manager Jose Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho is reportedly ready to launch a big-money move to bring Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane to Chelsea this month.

The Blues boss, who signed Varane during his time in charge of Los Blancos, has been repeatedly linked with the youngster in recent months, although no move has yet materialised.

However, fresh reports have emerged claiming that the 21-year-old could be brought to Stamford Bridge before the end of the current transfer window as Mourinho looks to bolster his backline.

Chelsea have conceded just 19 goals this campaign, with John Terry and Gary Cahill forming a formidable partnership in the heart of defence, but it is suggested by talkSPORT that the Portuguese boss is looking more towards the long-term future.

Real are said to value Varane at £20m, despite the France international being restricted to just nine La Liga appearances this campaign.
