Report: Liverpool plan bid for Chelsea's Ryan Bertrand

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers wants to sign Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea in January, according to a report.

Liverpool will make a bid to sign Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea in January, according to a report.

The Telegraph claims that Reds manager Brendan Rodgers wants to recruit the 24-year-old left-back due to Jose Enrique being unavailable until February because of knee surgery.

Chelsea turned down Liverpool's approach for Bertrand in the summer, with the player himself said to be keen on a long-term stay at Stamford Bridge.

However, Rodgers plans to lure the England international with more playing time at Anfield although Liverpool will have to part with around £8m as transfer fee.

Bertrand has made one appearance in the Premier League for Chelsea so far this season.
