Mark Schwarzer: 'Jose Mourinho wants to re-sign me'

Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer reveals that he expects to sign a new contract with Chelsea "in the next week or two".

Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has revealed that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is keen to keep him at Stamford Bridge for another 12 months.

Schwarzer was named on the club's released list last month, but the former Australian international has indicated that he expects to sign a new contract within the next 14 days.

The 41-year-old is quoted by AAP as saying: "I've had messages from the boss, he's very keen for me to re-sign with the club.

"And that's all I really need to know - that he wants to keep me at the club and I'll leave the rest up to the powers that be to sort it all out. I'm confident it'll be sorted out in the next week or two."

The former Fulham stopper made 12 appearances for the Blues during the last campaign.
