Cheltenham beat Morecambe 2-0 courtesy of a brace from Darren Carter.

Cheltenham Town have moved into the top five in League Two with a 2-0 win over Morecambe this evening.

The hosts made the perfect start to the match when Darren Carter controlled Billy Jones's cross before half-volleying it in.

Morecambe came very close to equalising on two occasions in quick succession, but first Steve Elliott and then Sido Jombarti cleared the ball off the line for Cheltenham to keep them ahead.

Morecambe's task got even harder 10 minutes into the second half when Kevin Ellison was sent off for an off-the-ball incident.

Cheltenham put the game beyond doubt in second-half stoppage time when Carter latched on to Kaid Mohamed's pass to net his second of the game and give the home side the win.
