Burnley striker Danny Ings has expressed hope that he can follow in the footsteps of Saido Berahino by earning a place in the England senior squad.
Ings has been named in Gareth Southgate's Under-21 squad, while West Bromwich Albion striker Berahino has made the step up from the Under-21s to the senior side for the games against Slovenia and Scotland.
Ings has said that he is taking inspiration from Berahino's ascent to Roy Hodgson's squad.
"If you're scoring goals for your club in the Premier League, doors open," Ings told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"It's happened to him and fair play to the lad, he's a fantastic striker and a great finisher. Hopefully I'll be able to follow in his footsteps so maybe in the future, you never know."
The Under-21s face Portugal in a friendly on Thursday before playing France four days later.
