Leighton Baines happy to retire at Goodison Park

Leighton Baines reveals that he would be happy to finish his playing career with Everton.

Everton left-back Leighton Baines insists that he is more than happy to retire at Goodison Park when the time arrives for him to hang up his boots.

The 29-year-old was targeted by Manchester United last summer, but his club resisted the interest before persuading him to sign a new four-year contract in January, and he is now desperate to deliver success for Everton's supporters.

"I was happy to commit myself and over the next few years now, I will be doing all I can to help the team keep improving," Baines is quoted as saying by The Mirror.

"I may well retire here now. I'm not looking to go anywhere else. I'm trying to enjoy my football and to try and achieve something at this club because it's been starved of success over the last couple of decades.

"I would love to be a part of a team that brings success back."

Baines joined Everton from Wigan Athletic in 2007, and has made over 250 appearances for the club.
