Cenk Tosun vows to fight for Everton career

The striker has found chances hard to come by at Goodison Park.

Out-of-favour Everton striker Cenk Tosun insists he is determined to fight for his place despite a lack of action.

The Turkey international has made just six Premier League starts this season, only one of which has come since mid-September, and did not even make the starting line-up for the FA Cup victory over League Two side Lincoln earlier this month.

But despite his lack of pitch time the 27-year-old, who only joined the club a year ago in a £27million deal, wants to stay at Goodison Park.

"I will fight more to get back the jersey. I will not go anywhere," he said in quotes reported by Turkish publication Skorer.

"Everton supporters love me very much. I love them. Instead of giving up to take the shirt, I'll fight more."

Manager Marco Silva has been playing winger Richarlison up front but Saturday's win over Bournemouth highlighted why he is really not suited to that role.

The Brazilian barely even challenged for aerial balls and spent most of his time complaining about the close attention paid to him by Steve Cook and Nathan Ake.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored his fourth league goal of the season against the Cherries, is the other option as a central striker but it is an area Silva needs to strengthen.

It is a different situation out wide, however, where youngster Ademola Lookman has started to deliver on his potential to provide his manager with two options on either flank.

He impressed against Bournemouth having retained his place from the FA Cup tie and the 21-year-old, for whom the club rejected bids from RB Leipzig for a permanent transfer in August, is now finding his feet having made just the sixth Premier League start of his career.

"I am confident and comfortable going out there," he told evertontv. "I am just happy to be involved, I love playing football and it is all I want to do.

"I am always confident in my ability and I was happy to help the team."
