Report: Fulham target Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett

Fulham want to speak to Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett regarding their managerial vacancy, according to a report.

Fulham have reportedly turned their attention to Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett after failing to lure Nigel Pearson or Steve Holland to the club.

The Cottagers are looking for a new boss after sacking Kit Symons following a 5-2 defeat to Rowett's Blues earlier this month.

Former Leicester City boss Pearson reportedly held talks with Fulham representatives but was left frustrated with their lack of action and is no longer interested in the post as a result.

Chelsea first-team coach Steve Holland was also linked to the post, but it is thought that the 41-year-old is happy in his current role with the Premier League champions.

According to The Mirror, Fulham now want to speak to Rowett and are prepared to offer him a significant increase on the salary that he currently earns at Championship rivals Birmingham.

The former Burton Albion chief took charge at St Andrew's last season and has since earned praise for the job that he has done with the Blues.

He steered the Midlanders to Championship safety last term and they are currently in a playoff place after taking 28 points in the current campaign.

Reading boss Steve Clarke and Hull City's Steve Bruce have also been linked with the job at Fulham.
