Lukas Podolski admits that the Germans must continue to get better despite beating Portugal at Euro 2012.

Germany international striker Lukas Podolski has said that he and his teammates must continue to get better despite beating Portugal 1-0 to kick off Euro 2012.

The Germans, who dominated possession for much of the first half, were unable to find the back of the Portuguese net until after the break and Podolski admits that the team must improve with the Netherlands next up.

"The three points are important," he told Goal.com.

"We have room to improve but we fought hard and in the end it was important to start off with a win.

"It won't be easier against Netherlands. Their backs are against the wall."

Die Mannschaft meet the Dutch in Kharkiv later this week.
