Guingamp have put three points between themselves and the bottom three in Ligue 1 with a crucial 1-0 win over relegation rivals Valenciennes.
After an edgy start from both teams, Guingamp had the first real opening of the game. Dorian Leveque found Steeven Langil on the right side of the box, but his shot from a narrow angle went wide.
Valenciennes then came close with a strike from Majeed Waris, but he was unable to direct his effort on target as he dragged it wide.
The away side finished the first half strongly and Waris came even closer on 40 minutes, but his strike from around 12 yards was this time too close to Mamadou Samassa in the hosts' goal.
In an even game it was Guingamp who got themselves the victory on 61 minutes, as Claudio Beauvue poked in from inside the six-yard box from a Thibault Giresse corner.
