Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Scottish Premiership clash between Hibernian and St Johnstone, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Hibernian let slip a two-goal lead on Saturday as Celtic fought back to draw 2-2 in what was a dramatic encounter at Easter Road.

Jamie Murphy opened the scoring seven minutes into the second half before Kevin Nisbet doubled their lead after having his earlier penalty saved. However, Celtic fought back with Diego Laxalt scoring the equaliser in added time.

After the weekend's draw and defeat to Aberdeen two weeks ago, Jack Ross's side are hoping to get back to winning ways against St Johnstone.

Hibernian have won both of their last two league games against the Saints – they last beat them three times in a row in the Scottish Premiership back in September 2009.

Murphy also has a good record against the Saints having scored six times against them in his career. The Scottish winger has only scored more goals against his current club Hibs in the top-flight, where he has netted eight times.

Hibs missed the chance to move above Aberdeen, who lost to Rangers on Sunday, but now have another chance to do just that with a win on Tuesday.

St Johnstone came from behind to earn a point in a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Motherwell on Saturday, as Stevie May's first-half penalty cancelled out Mark O'Hara's early breakthrough.

The Saints currently sit in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership table and a victory on Tuesday would see Callum Davidson's side move two places higher to sixth.

After beating Hamilton 5-3 in their last away league outing, St Johnstone are aiming to pick up back-to-back away victories in the Scottish Premiership for the first time since December 2019.

The Saints are also unbeaten in their last five away league games at Hibernian in Scotland's top tier – winning three and drawing the other two – since a 2-0 defeat in August 2012.

St Johnstone lost 1-0 to Hibs earlier in the campaign, a game where they failed to have a single shot on target. Davidson will be keen for his side to improve in the final third on Tuesday and keep their good run of form going.

Team News

Hibs midfielder Kyle Magennis, who has been out injured for nearly a month, is close to full recovery and could be back in contention by the end of November.

Left-back Sean Mackie, who made his first appearance of the season against Celtic after five months on the sidelines, could keep his starting spot ahead of Josh Doig.

Striker Christian Doidge is likely to be back after he was ruled out of Saturday's clash with Celtic due to rolling his ankle in training on Friday.

Tuesday could see Callum Davidson name the same starting XI for the third successive Scottish Premiership match.

Craig Bryson, Michael O'Halloran and Chris Kane, who all came on as substitutes against Motherwell, are likely to begin the match from the bench once again.

Hibernian possible starting lineup:
Marciano; McGinn, Porteous, Hanlon, Mackie; Boyle, Gogic, Newell, Murphy; Nisbet, Doidge

St Johnstone possible starting lineup:
Clark; Kerr, Gordon, McCart; McNamara, McCann, Davidson, Tanser; Wotherspoon, Conway; May

We say: Hibernian 2-1 St Johnstone

Despite losing their last two encounters with Hibs, St Johnstone have a good record against Tuesday's hosts away from home. But with top goalscorer Kevin Nisbet set to be partnered once again with Christian Doidge, Hibernian's striking duo have the quality to cause the Saints problems in the final third.
