Stoke City confirm signing of former Hull City defender Josh Tymon

Stoke City announce the signing of 18-year-old defender Josh Tymon on a five-year deal following his departure from Hull City.

Stoke City have announced the signing of defender Josh Tymon on a five-year deal following his departure from Hull City.

The 18-year-old played 325 minutes of Premier League football for the Tigers last season, but on Wednesday he chose to cancel his scholarship contract, which was due to expire in June 2018.

Now it has been confirmed that Tymon has been snapped up by the Potters on a contract until 2022, with Hull entitled to a fee due to the England Under-20 international's age and their role in his development.

Speaking after Tymon's release, Hull vice-chairman Ehab Allam wrote on the official website: "I believe he will one day be a full England international and I take pride in the work the club has done to make that possible.

"This also makes it even more difficult to take having invested so heavily in his development through the excellent academy set-up we have. We had hoped that Josh would remain with us to realise his potential."

Tymon becomes Stoke's second summer signing, following the arrival of Scotland international Darren Fletcher on a free transfer.
