Neil Warnock targets promotion next season

Neil Warnock reveals that he is desperate to once again reach the Premier League as a manager with new club Leeds United.

Leeds United manager Neil Warnock has revealed that he has held talks with the club's chairman Ken Bates over next season's aspirations.

Despite Saturday's 4-1 home win over Peterborough United, the Yorkshire team are 12th in the league table and any playoff hopes appear to have diminished.

However, Warnock claims that talks with Bates have been productive and is aiming to take his side back to the Premier League.

The former Sheffield United manager told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Before I spoke to the chairman I possibly did have doubts about next season.

"I said when I first came here that I didn't want to be around mid-table. Next season's a big season for me.

"The chairman knows how desperate I am - and you can use that word because I am desperate - to bring the players in who can give me the success I want. The incentive for me is a record eight promotions."

Warnock took over at Leeds following his dismissal from Queens Park Rangers earlier this season.
