Jamie Vardy: 'Riyad Mahrez unaffected by transfer speculation'

Jamie Vardy insists that wantaway Leicester City teammate Riyad Mahrez is not letting speculation over his future affect his game.

Jamie Vardy has claimed that Leicester City teammate Riyad Mahrez is not letting speculation over his future affect his game.

The Algeria international stated several weeks ago that he wants to leave the Foxes this summer as he feels "now is the time to move on to a new experience".

This has led to rumours linking the winger to Arsenal and Roma, among other clubs, but Vardy insists that those reports are not to be taken too seriously.

The England forward told the Leicester Mercury: "It is just all paper talk and you are going to get this at this stage of the season.

"Riyad has been the one linked left, right and centre, but from what we understand no bids have come in and he has been training exactly how he would have last year and the year before that.

"It is not changed him. Until the club reach an agreement with anyone and accept a bid, then that will be time for him to go talk to them.

"At the moment there is nothing and he is giving 110 percent in training. You have seen how he played (during the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League Asia Trophy), he had a great game until he came off so he isn't letting it affect him either."

Mahrez, contracted to Leicester until 2020, has scored 35 goals and registered 25 assists in 138 appearances since his 2014 move from Le Havre.
