Danny Drinkwater signs new five-year contract at Leicester City

Danny Drinkwater signs a new five-year deal with Premier League champions Leicester City.

Danny Drinkwater has committed his future to Leicester City by signing a new five-year contract at the King Power Stadium.

The midfielder, who helped the club win their first ever Premier League title last season, has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at the club until 2021.

The 26-year-old, who reportedly rejected the club's opening contract offer joined the Foxes from Manchester United in 2012 and has gone on to make 177 appearances.

Drinkwater joins key players Kasper Schmeichel, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez in signing new deals with the English champions.

"I've loved playing for this club - it's been perfect for me and my career and I want to be here for a long time to come," Drinkwater told the club's official website. "I couldn't be happier.

"I've grown a lot as a player and a person in the last four years and Leicester City has been a massive part of that. I owe a lot to the staff here for helping me get to this point, they've been quality.

"And I love being part of this team. We've been through so much together and I'm sure there's a lot more to come."

The midfielder played 35 of Leicester's 38 games last season, and started both of the club's opening league matches against Hull City and Arsenal in recent weeks.
