Preview: Lincoln City vs. Morecambe - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's League One clash between Lincoln City and Morecambe, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Lincoln City will be back in action on Saturday when they welcome Morecambe to Sincil Bank as they aim to continue their two-match unbeaten run.

The visitors have been struggling so far this season, but three points at the weekend has the potential of taking them out of the relegation zone.

Lincoln City currently sit 13th in the League One table, and there is no doubt that they will be hoping to get themselves back into the top half with a victory at the weekend.

A win could take them as high as ninth depending on other results, giving the Imps a real change of making clear progress this Saturday.

Despite the fact that Lincoln City are undefeated in their previous two matches in all competitions, they have actually gone three games in the league without securing three points.

Their most recent outing saw Mark Kennedy's team share the points with Plymouth Argyle, with the team being unable to kick on after Max Sanders scored an equaliser for them late in the first half.

That match finished 1-1, and sharing points has been a key theme in their season so far at Sincil Bank as they have drawn seven out of their eight games in the stadium so far.

Despite the fact that Lincoln City have struggled for wins at home so far, Morecambe will still have to be at their best to take three points themselves because the Imps are undefeated at Sincil Bank in this campaign.

The Shrimps have only won a single match on the road this season, but the team will likely take confidence in the fact that they are undefeated in their previous three matches on the road.

One of those saw Morecambe defeat Barnsley, while their most recent outing led to a 1-1 draw against Portsmouth that showed more positivity.

Liam Shaw did give his team the lead in that match last weekend, but they were unable to hang on to that result.

With the club currently in the relegation zone there is plenty to play for on Saturday, but a victory could bring the possibility of moving them out of that predicament if other results go their way.

Team News

Jack Diamond made his return to the Lincoln starting lineup last weekend, and he could find himself retaining his place as he continues to help the attacking options for the team.

Daniel Mandroiu has been unavailable as of late for the Imps, and that is something that could end up continuing to be the case when Saturday rolls around.

Shaw should find himself in the heart of Morecambe's midfield once again on Saturday after he was able to get himself on the scoresheet last week.

Kieran Phillips has been the lead striker for the Shrimps this season, and he already has four goals to his name which he will want to enhance.

Playing three at the back has proven to be a popular formation decision for the visitors as of late, and that is something that could continue as they look to play an attacking style.

Lincoln City possible starting lineup:
Rushworth; O'Connor, Jackson, Eyoma; Poole, Sanders, Sorensen, Robson; Vernam, House, Diamond

Morecambe possible starting lineup:
Ripley; Delaney, Rawson, O'Connor; Bedeau, Weir, Shaw, Gibson; Cooney; Stockton, Phillips

We say: Lincoln City 2-0 Morecambe

Morecambe have been performing well on the road as of late, but they are heading to face a team who are undefeated at home, creating a tough test.

Lincoln City are a strong side, and their attacking qualities will likely prove to be too much for their opponents on Saturday.
