Brendan Rodgers: 'Jordan Henderson struggling with foot injury'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers reveals that captain Jordan Henderson was struggling with a foot injury in the build-up to the team's match against Bournemouth.

Brendan Rodgers has admitted that Jordan Henderson needed a painkilling injection before Liverpool's match against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

The captain lasted just 52 minutes at Anfield last night before being substituted, but did set up Christian Benteke's first-half goal in the 1-0 victory.

The manager said at his post-match press conference: "He's had a problem with the bottom of his foot. He hadn't trained for part of the week.

"He was taking some painkillers with it and he'd done ever so well to even be out on the field. He wanted to give it a go but you could see he was limited in his running.

"He's done great for us for the period of time he was on but it's important that we get victories and it's important that we have fit players on the field. Unfortunately for him, he was just in too much pain."

Liverpool are in action again next Monday when they travel to Arsenal in the Premier League.
