Liverpool are allegedly prepared to spend 'whatever it takes' to win the race for Paris Saint-Germain teenager Warren Zaire-Emery in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have seen Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch form a highly effective midfield partnership this season; the former was on target in Wednesday's 2-2 Merseyside derby draw with Everton.
However, Arne Slot is lacking genuine depth after Mac Allister and Gravenberch, as the experienced Wataru Endo is out of favour, while Tyler Morton is out of contention with a serious shoulder injury.
The Dutchman does have James McConnell and Curtis Jones in his ranks too, but the former is still only 20 years old, while Jones has often been deployed in a more advanced role during the current season.
As a result, Liverpool are expected to scan the midfield market for reinforcements during the summer, and according to the Anfield Watch, Zaire-Emery is a player of serious interest to the Reds.

The 18-year-old is one of the jewels in the Parisiens crown after making his first-team breakthrough a couple of years ago, and he has already played for the PSG first team on 103 occasions at his tender age.
Zaire-Emery has conjured up eight goals and eight assists for the French champions in that time, including three strikes and one helper from 29 outings in the 2024-25 season.
Keen to ward off Premier League interest in their 2006-born phenom, PSG tied Zaire-Emery down to a new contract last year, and his current terms run until 2029 with the option of a further 12 months.
However, the report adds that Liverpool have held talks with Zaire-Emery's agent Jorge Mendes, and the Merseyside giants are bullish about their chances of persuading him to leave his boyhood club.
Reds transfer chiefs Michael Edwards and Julian Ward are understood to have a good relationship with Mendes, which could aid them in negotiations, and they will pay 'whatever it takes' to bring him to Anfield.

While Zaire-Emery is apparently content and settled at PSG, where his girlfriend plays as a goalkeeper for the women's team, he would be open to a new challenge outside of his homeland.
Representing Liverpool is said to be an 'alluring prospect' for the France international, who has supposedly discussed the possibility of representing Liverpool with current Reds defender Ibrahima Konate.
However, Konate himself is coincidentally said to be tempted by a move to Luis Enrique's side, and Liverpool could supposedly move for an injury-prone Premier League defender if the Frenchman does go back to his homeland.
Liverpool can re-establish a seven-point lead over Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table when they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, where Mohamed Salah could break another Reds Premier League record.
