Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has played down speculation linking his club with a move for Craig Bellamy.
Recent reports have suggested that Hughes would be tempted to submit an offer for the 33-year-old striker, who is believed to be surplus to requirements at Liverpool.
However, despite having worked alongside Bellamy with Wales, Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City, Hughes has moved to quash any rumours that the centre-forward is close to signing on at Loftus Road.
"There has been a lot of speculation over Craig. Yes I know him very well. But at the moment it is all speculation," the boss told reporters.
Bellamy found starting opportunities at Anfield limited last season.
