Italian club Roma confirm Liverpool's interest in signing 21-year-old striker Fabio Borini this summer.

Roma's director of football Walter Sabatini has confirmed that Liverpool have made their interest in Fabio Borini known to them.

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be a big admirer of the 21-year-old, whom he managed during his stint in charge of Swansea City.

During a press conference in Rome this afternoon, Sabatini revealed that the Italian club are now considering Liverpool's wish to sign the striker with their general manager.

"There is a real interest shown by Liverpool for Borini," said Sabatini. "We're currently evaluating the situation with [Franco Baldini]."

Borini joined Roma in the summer of 2011 from Parma.
