Alfe Inge Haaland has disclosed the reason for his son Erling Braut Haaland choosing to join Manchester City instead of Real Madrid.
The Norway international made the move from Borussia Dortmund to Man City in the summer, but Real Madrid were one of a number clubs interested in signing the forward.
In a documentary released by Viaplay called: 'Haaland: The choice', which discusses the transfer, Erling Haaland's father was asked by a journalist: "How can you say no to a club like Real Madrid?"
In response, Alfe Inge Haaland said: "Good question, you can't really. We had some criteria in mind - who needed a no.9? Manchester City were a 10/10 option.
"Real Madrid were just a 5/10 or 6/10 because of how Karim Benzema is playing right now. And we were thinking will they sign Kylian Mbappe?"
The 22-year-old has started the season in impressive form, scoring 10 goals in his six Premier League appearances which include consecutive hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
