Schalke 04 inform Manchester City that the Premier League champions will have to come up with a bid of £35m if they want to sign Sebastian Rudy, according to a report.

Schalke 04 have reportedly informed Manchester City that the Premier League champions will have to come up with a bid of £35m if they want to sign German midfielder Sebastian Rudy.

Last week, it was claimed that City were considering a loan move for Rudy, who would act as midfield cover for Fernandinho if he moved to the Etihad Stadium.

However, according to The Sun, Schalke have told City that the price is £35m for a player who arrived at the Veltins-Arena from Bayern Munich in last summer's transfer window.

Rudy, who is a 27-time Germany international, turned out on 35 occasions for Bayern last season.

City booked their spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 5-0 win over Burnley at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
