Manchester City have reportedly decided to open up contract negotiations with Fernandinho.
The Brazilian midfielder's current deal at the Etihad Stadium is due to expire in the summer of 2017.
However, City are keen for the 30-year-old to sign an extension, with talks due to begin in January, according to Samba Foot.
Fernandinho joined the Citizens in 2013 for a supposed £30m fee from Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk.
Since then he has made over 100 appearances for the Premier League club, from which he has scored 11 goals.
