Manchester City are preparing to make a €40m (£28.8m) bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi in the January transfer window, according to a report.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini is said to be looking to bolster his attacking line, with regular injuries to star frontman Sergio Aguero this season leaving just Wilfried Bony and Kelechi Iheanacho available for backup, and Gazetta World claims that 22-year-old Icardi is top of the transfer shortlist.
The Argentina international scored 22 goals last season but has hit the back of the net on just four occasions for Inter this term, leading to suggestions that he may move elsewhere in a bid to rediscover his best form.
Icardi, who joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2013, is said to have also attracted interest from Arsenal in recent weeks.
