Alex Ferguson: 'A point was fair'

Man Utd boss Alex Ferguson believes that his side's 1-1 draw against Stoke City was a fair result.

Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has said that a point was a fair outcome after his side drew 1-1 with Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Nani had given United a half-time lead, but Peter Crouch's first goal for his new club shared the spoils and put an end to the visitors' 100% start to the season.

"I've been here many times and it's always the same, it is always a very difficult place to come to," Ferguson told BBC Sport.

"Stoke have deserved a point. They've battled hard, they always do.

"Tony's (Pulis) got a really honest team here and they do make you work, and although we've been very successful here in the past few years, I think a point was fair."

The Scot also said that Wayne Rooney's hamstring problem is not too severe after the England striker was forced to withdraw before the game.

"It's not a serious hamstring but it was enough to keep him out today," he added.

"I think maybe Wayne will be (out) for a couple of weeks."

The Red Devils next game is a Champions League group stage fixture against Swiss side Basel at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
